ReadersGet ("we," "our," "the platform") is a digital publishing and reading platform serving readers, authors, publishers, creators, and affiliates, primarily across Africa. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

Account information: email address, name, phone number (optional), profile photo, bio, country, and preferred languages when you create an account or publisher/creator profile.

Content you provide: books, articles, and other publications you upload; posts, comments, and messages you write; cover images and author photos.

Payment information: when you make or receive a payment (purchases, subscriptions, boosts, withdrawals), we collect payment method details relevant to the local payment channels we support (such as Telebirr, CBE, and similar), and any receipt images you upload for verification. We do not store full card numbers.

Usage information: pages and content you view, books you read, items you share, and similar activity — used to show you accurate view/share counts, recommend content, and calculate creator earnings. For visitors who aren't signed in, this is tracked using a random, non-identifying device token, not personal information.

Device permissions: if you use the camera or microphone recording features, that access is used only to create the content you choose to record and share — recordings are processed on your own device before you decide whether to post them.

Notification tokens: if you enable push notifications, we store a device token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can deliver notifications to your device.

How We Use Your Information

• To operate your account, show your published content, and process payments and payouts
• To send you notifications about messages, connection requests, purchases, and platform updates — you can control which types you receive in Settings
• To calculate and display engagement statistics (views, shares, likes) and creator analytics
• To review and moderate content for platform safety, in line with our content guidelines
• To improve the platform and understand how it's used

Third-Party Services We Use

We rely on a small number of trusted service providers to operate ReadersGet:

• Supabase — our database and authentication provider
• Brevo — for transactional and notification emails
• Telegram — for optional real-time notifications, if you choose to connect it
• Firebase (Google) — for push notifications, if you enable them
• Groq — powers our AI features (SemiAI transcription and writing assistance); audio you submit for transcription is processed and not permanently stored by us beyond the transcript you choose to keep

Each of these providers processes data only as needed to provide their specific service to us, not for their own independent purposes.

Your Choices

• Notification preferences: control email and Telegram notifications in Settings at any time
• Account deletion: you can request deletion of your account and associated data from Settings
• Camera/microphone: these permissions are only requested when you actively choose to record, and you can revoke them in your browser or device settings at any time

Data Retention

We retain your account and content information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain records (for example, completed payment records) for legal or accounting purposes.

Children's Privacy

ReadersGet is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be reflected here with an updated date at the top of this page.
